Chris Pye Signature Series
The first dedicated Slipstone Series designed by a Professional Master Woodcarver!
Chris Pye has been developing this range of dedicated slipstones with Norton Pike for over 3 years.
The slipstones are square and have different profiles on each of the 4 edges. These range from very flat to semicircular with two incremental curves in between. You will quickly see that the range of stones reduce in thickness from 3/4" (19mm) to 1/2" (12mm) to 1/4" (6mm)down to 1/8" (3mm). This covers all the requirements for sharpening large and narrow gouges.
There is a special stone for sharpening V tools, a 8 x 2" double sided fine coarse bench stone and an 8 x 2" arkansas bench stone to complete the series.
The bench stones both come with a small tin of Norton stone oil (4.5 fl oz) and are houses in a plastic holder.
The unique feature of these slipstones is that you can fit one of the 4 edges to exactly (or closely) match the sweep of your gouge to create an inside bevel or to remove any burr.
