Herdim Assembly Clamps

The finest screw clamps available for assembling and repairing sensitive antique instruments as well as assembling new instruments. The clamping pads apply pressure directly over the instrument’s ribs to prevent damage to the edges of the top and back. The accuracy with which the clamps can be set means significantly less clamping pressure is needed than when using conventional clamps. The plastic material used repels glue, is resistant to wear and flexible to prevent marring the surfaces of the instrument. The pads slide along grooves in the length of the spindles to allow quick adjustment of the clamp. The reversible upper pads allow the clamps to be also used for gluing the ribs to the back of the instrument.

Cello Assembly Clamps

The fibre-reinforced plastic clamping pads yield a lightweight yet nevertheless very sturdy clamp. The pads feature additional flexible polyurethane inserts to prevent marring of the surface of the wood and varnish coat. The spindle is partially encased in silicon tubing to further protect the edges of the instrument. Also well-suited for assembling and restoring guitars.

Herdim Crack Clamps

Ideal for reparing cracks in stringed instrument tops and backs. Lightweight with adjustable jaw openings.

The movable clamping jaw can be easily set to the desired length. The clamping pad is concave on one side and convex on the other and pivots to accommodate the exact contours of the instrument. The sliding jack screws allow the crack to be leveled without the use of additional wedges. The double brass rods are flexible and can be shaped to conform to the curvature of the instrument being restored.
