The Veritas® large shoulder plane (a specialized rabbet plane) is the latest and largest in our line of shoulder planes. Its size and mass make it perfect for trimming breadboard tenons, adjusting shoulders, or even paring down tenon cheeks. At 8-1/4" long, 1-1/4" wide and weighing 3-3/4 lb, it brings both authority and precision to larger work. The ductile cast iron body is accurately machined and ground so that the sole and sides are flat and square.

Veritas have devised a new lever cap that fits properly in the palm, incorporating a bubinga lever cap knob that pivots 180°, and adding a multi-positional front knob that can be mounted on the top or on either side. You can also grip the plane in the recesses cast into the side of the plane. The combination of these added features ensures a solid, comfortable grip for all users in all applications.

The plane's adjustable toe lets you narrow the mouth for very fine shavings with minimum tear-out. The low bed angle of 15° combined with the 25° blade bevel results in a cutting angle of 40° for exceptional end-grain cutting performance. Set screws along the side enable you to accurately position the blade and do not require adjustment when replacing the blade after sharpening. The blade is 1/8" (0.125") thick and made of A2 tool steel hardened to Rc60-62. For those who want the performance of a superior shoulder plane, this tool offers the solution.

Medium Shoulder Plane Ref: VP4101

The shoulder plane (a specialized rebate plane) is the ultimate tool for trimming a joint to a perfect fit. There is no better plane for trimming the shoulder of a tenon to perfection or for rebating work.

The Veritas® medium shoulder plane is proportioned for versatility; it measures 7" long by 0.700" wide and weighs 2 lb. The ductile cast iron body is accurately machined and ground so that the sole and sides are flat and square.

If you have ever used or even held a traditional shoulder plane, you will appreciate how this plane comes to hand. The unique lever cap with a pivoting knob lets you adjust the plane to fit your hand and preferred holding style. The concave knob rests in the web of your hand, giving you a secure grip without the need of a vise-like pressure. The through-hole in the body adds to grip security but has to be experienced to be understood.

Small Shoulder Plane Ref: VP4701

Designed to seat nicely in the hand, the smallest Veritas shoulder plane is easily controlled using a one-handed grip.

The lever cap wraps around the rear of the body, shrouding the blade adjustment mechanism so it does not obstruct the grip while acting as a comfortable rest for the palm.

The through-hole and textured recesses cast into the side of the body provide grip points for fingers.

The plane weighs 1 lb 2 oz and has a 6-1/4" long, 1/2" wide sole. The ductile cast iron body is accurately machined and ground so that the sole and sides are flat and square.

The plane’s adjustable toe lets you restrict the mouth for very fine shavings with minimum tear-out.

The low bed angle of 15° combined with the 25° blade bevel results in a cutting angle of 40° for exceptional end-grain cutting.

The Veritas® bullnose shoulder plane, perfect for cleaning up machine-cut joints, will be one of the most useful hand joinery tools you'll ever own.

Designed for maximum versatility, it performs as either a bullnose or a chisel plane as required. Simply loosen the brass toe-locking knob to remove the toe piece for chisel plane configuration, and you can work right up to a blind corner. An adjustable set screw in the toe acts as a stop to accurately set the mouth opening. It also ensures that when switching between configurations the toe will be repositioned with the same mouth opening previously established and ensures that you will never accidentally jam the nose against the blade edge.

It measures 4-3/4" long by 1" wide and weighs just over 1-1/4 lb. The ductile cast iron body and toe are accurately machined and ground so that the sole and sides are flat and square. Shaped to fit comfortably in the hand, the low, broad lever cap meets the palm of your hand and your forefinger rests in the toe pocket, for maximum comfort and control.
