Gorilla Glue

The Gorilla Glue Company is based in Cincinnati, Ohio and has been selling Gorilla Glue for over a decade. The glue was first discovered being used in Indonesia on teak furniture, but consumers soon found it to be incredibly versatile and demand soared. On a mission to make products that deliver impressive results, the company has since expanded its offerings to include Gorilla Tape, Gorilla Super Glue and Gorilla Wood Glue.

Here we feature the original glue and the super glue, please go to our Gorilla Wood Glue section or Gorilla Tape Section for thise products.

Original Gorilla Glue Ref: GGO-5000

Gorilla Glue bonds materials other adhesives simply can't--metal, stone, wood, ceramics, foam, glass and much more! And it's still the best glue for anyone who wants the job done right.

* VERSATILE – ideal for most household fixes, building repairs and creative projects.

* 100% WATERPROOF – does not break down when exposed to outdoor elements. Easily passes ANSI/HPVA HP-1-2000 Types 1 and 2.

* TEMPERATURE RESISTANT – once it’s dry Gorilla Glue is unaffected by extreme heat or cold.

* SANDABLE, PAINTABLE, STAINABLE – the invisible glue line makes finishing easy.

1. Prepare And Dampen The Surface

If you’re using Gorilla Glue for the first time, or binding a new type of material, we always recommend trying a test piece first. Prepare your surface: All surfaces must be clean, dust free and tight fitting. For shiny surfaces, such as metals, glass and some plastics, rough up the material to give the glue something to bite into. Damp it: Lightly dampen one surface with water. We recommend using a damp cloth or spraying with water. Do not saturate the surface. For dense hardwoods, lightly dampen both surfaces prior to gluing.

2. Evenly Apply Gorilla Glue Onto The Dry Surface

Glue It: Evenly apply Gorilla Glue onto the dry surface. Do not over apply. We recommend wearing gloves or applying with a disposable brush. If you do get the glue on your skin, try a dry cloth or paper towel first (particularly if the glue is still tacky). If that doesn’t work, try washing with soap and cold water, or using an exfoliator with a gritty texture. Dry your skin and apply lotion. We do not recommend any kind of alcohol or acetone. This actually strips the skin of its natural oils, which means the glue is more likely to stick.

3. Clamp The Two Surfaces Together Tightly

Clamp It: You must clamp the two surfaces together tightly. Make sure the clamping pressure is distributed evenly across the surface. Or, if you don’t have a clamp, use heavy objects to achieve the clamping pressure. For lighter objects, try using a rubber band to hold the pieces together tightly. Clamp objects for 1-2 hours for Gorilla Glue and just 30-60 minutes for Gorilla Glue fast curing formula. For best results, leave overnight.

Clean up: If you need to remove any uncured ‘squeeze out’ or wet glue, we recommend wiping with a dry cloth or using a standard paint thinner. Make sure you use the solvent with care in a well-ventilated area. Always wear gloves. Once the glue is dry, it is best removed mechanically: try sanding, chiseling, scraping or picking. The dried glue will not damage tools.

Storage: Squeeze the air from the bottle. Secure the cap tightly. Store in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children and animals

Gorilla™ Super Glue Ref: GGO-780

Introducing new Gorilla™ Super Glue, the first super glue that keeps holding strong, even when the bond takes a hit--we call it our Impact-Tough™ Formula. Just hold in place for 30-60 seconds while the formula sets, no clamping necessary. It's what makes Gorilla™ Super Glue, so, well, super.

IMPACT STRENGTH– unique rubber particles increase impact-resistance and strength to handle everyday use after your repair or creation is set. WON'T CLOG – anti-clog tip with metal pin keeps nozzle clean. EASY TO USE – thick formula flows better for improved control. Dries in just 30-60 seconds, with no clamping. WHATEVER THE SURFACE– use on nearly anything, from wood, metal, ceramics, some plastics, rubber and a whole lot more!

How is Gorilla Super Glue different from Gorilla Glue? - Gorilla Super Glue is a cyanoacrylate adhesive. Gorilla Glue is a polyurethane adhesive. Gorilla Super Glue does not require extended clamping or moisture to activate. It does not foam during set up. In addition, Gorilla Super Glue is recommended primarily for indoor applications only. Gorilla Super Glue is ideal for smaller repairs that require an instant bond and projects where clamping is not needed.

How do I use it? - Gorilla Super Glue is easy to use. It dries in 15-30 seconds and no clamps are needed. Simply clean the surfaces of your project to rid of dirt, dust and grease. Apply a small amount of Gorilla Super Glue (more isn't always the better: use 1 drop per square inch). Then put your pieces together and hold for 15-30 seconds. You can handle your project lightly after 1-5 minutes. 24 hours required for complete cure.

Why are the 2 bottles only half full? - Each bottle of Gorilla Super Glue contains 15 grams of adhesive, though the bottle is only half full. For high performance and usability the adhesive needs to be protected from air. One way keep the air out of the adhesive is by packaging in thick plastic bottles. If the bottle was completely full at 15g, and still the optimal thickness, it would be too hard to squeeze.
